Albion new boy Jiri Skalak has been told his big move can help him make an impact at Euro 2016.
The five-times capped Czech Republic international completed his move to the Seagulls from Mlada Boleslav last night.
Skalak can play wide or off a centre-forward and could make his debut against Brentford on Friday subject to international clearance.
He was the one senior signing made by the Seagulls on deadline day although they also picked up under-21 striker Jonah Ayunga from Dorchester.
Skalak discussed his move with compatriots Tomas Kalas (Middlesbrough), Daniel Pudil (Sheffield Wednesday) and Matej Vydra (Reading), as well as national team boss Pavel Vrba before signing until June 2019. The fee remains undisclosed.
The 23-year-old from Pardubice told The Argus: “I spoke to all the players I know and they basically recommended this move. They only had good words about the decision to come here.
“They explained a bit and described the club and the fans and said it is a good move.
“I believe this move cannot harm me for the Euros. I spoke with the manager of the Czech national team and he was okay with this decision to move to England.
“He said it is up to you, make your choice. I believe this will be fine.”
Albion boss Chris Hughton said the club had been monitoring Skalak for some time.
Hughton said: “He’s a skilful and technical player, a full international, and has represented his country at every level. He has played in the top division in the Czech Republic and the Europa League.”
