Same argument as always. We clearly need a top quality striker. Problem we have is as always who. As we have seen strikers in this league are stupidly prices and we are never going to part with 12-15 million for Austin, Rhodes or McCormack.
Likewise our recent purchases from lower leagues have not been the greatest but there is value there as we have seen before and other clubs have seen. Players like Wilson at Muff are available at a decent price.
Or we do what we are doing and try desperately to get someone from abroad. Big gamble but sounds like we have watched these players enough to think they are worth the gamble.
Personally if we don't get the players we want I don't see us adding a striker unless a very good one comes up on loan. Last thing I want to see if the club buy some load of old crap or loan someone who is also a load of crap.

To be fair, he can hardly come out and say "We can't get anyone so our season is well and truly shafted!". CH doesn't buy the players.
We don't know what is being said behind closed doors of course. I am happy that we are not a club that washes it's dirty laundry in public.
That's not to say that I am not concerned by our lack of progress in the transfer market. I am.

It's a bit weird that the club never appears to have very much urgency about having a real go at reaching the promised land of the Premier League despite having had all the infrastructure in place for some time now. Always seem happy enough to just bump along with 20K+ STH, doing just enough to steer a steady path in the Championship. Even when we reach the play-offs we're always a couple of country miles off looking credible contenders to go up. Pretty sure this season will prove no different.

You're very optimistic. Ulloa is featuring in almost every match for a Leicester side that is still very much in the title race and FA Cup. Why would Ranieri let him go now, particularly as the predators are circling around Vardy?

Sensible stewardship means the club is being run well, within its or the chairmans means and adhering to FFP. The urgency you are advocating is another word for gambling with the clubs future by spending beyond its means. Great if all goes well as QPR proved when they bought promotion, but that never lasted. And even that route to success can be a double edged sword, see the pickle Bolton are now in.
I would rather be stuck in the Championship for another 10 years, battling for a playoff spot, than risk it all and wind up skint and fighting to swerve relegation. Last season was a reminder of how we used to live and it wasn't a nice feeling.

With respect, we've needed a quality striker for some time, we've bought a few busts, taken punts on freebies and not got deals over the line, or worse still we've allowed capable strikers to depart. Even when we had Ulloa we needed more, we that extra bit of firepower, this season is no different, nobody is demanding we go out and buy any old Carlos Kickaball, but we've known we need a striker for a couple years, our failure to actually secure one is holding us back. Sure, we could wait until the summer to get the guy we want, but there's absolutely nothing to say we will start next season as well as we have started this one. We're in an incredible position with a great opportunity to get promoted, if that isn't the goal what is?

You do realise FFP is pretty much ignored by everyone now, right? The 'punishment' for abusing it is laughable, see Bournemouth for example.

Panic, panic....wasn't it the same over the Summer after which a quality squad merged?
We should only find out about a signing after it has happened; that's prudent business.
As for Bloom, after a poor run (arguable which will pass with returning players and signings) we still sit 6th, very much worth investing in.

When the club forked out on Baldock and Hemed they did so believing they had bought a quality striker, maybe the did, time will tell . But just because a player costs many millions more than another, it doesn't guarantee he will be the quality striker we need.
The world of football is littered with expensive duds and freebie superstars.

Regardless of how it is enforced, the principle of FFP is to protect football clubs and us supporters from rogue chairman like Peter Ridsdale who got greedy, spent more than the club could afford and turned a once big club into Leeds.
