David Stockdale made a trio of second-half saves to help Albion claim a Boxing Day point.
The Seagulls set a club record for successive away draws with six on the spin as they shared a 0-0 stalemate with Brentford at Griffin Park.
Stockdale's best stop was low to his right as he pushed James Tarkowski's super downward header away from the bottom corner.
That came a minute or so after he had tipped over Alan Judge's curler.
Stockdale later got across to ease another Judge curler away from the bottom corner.
There was one last concern as sub Philipp Hofman sent a free header straight to the keeper.
Brentford did most of the attacking in a lively, high-tempo encounter.
But Albion should have gone ahead after a half-time tactical reshuffle which saw Andrew Crofts go on in a deep-lying midfield role and striker James Wilson make way.
The Seagulls were a threat in the period just after that switch and their best chance saw Jamie Murphy curl just past the far top corner after Beram Kayal found him in space.
Brentford played some lovely football with Judge often at its heart.
But Albion defended superbly and were not in real danger until the final minutes of the first half.
Then Ryan Woods shot wastefully over from the edge of the box when a cross deflected conveniently to him.
Right on half-time, Lasse Vibe seemed sure to fire him as the ball fell to him in front of goal but the Danish star tried to take an extra touch and the ball was touched away from him.
Albion looked to hit on the counter-attack in the first half but offered little threat, although Tomer Hemed offered David Button catching practice with a couple of efforts.
