Brighton1. Graham Moseley- Had a fine season after finally winning the battle for the number one jersey with Eric Steele, who joined Watford.
2. Gary Stevens- Hugely impressive youngster who made the step up to first-team action with consummate ease.
3. Gary Williams- Had recently scored the winner at the Goldstone Ground against European champions Nottingham Forest in the previous month.
4. Brian Horton- Played manfully throughout the season with Albion, under the cosh in midfield for long periods against classy opposition.
5. Steve Foster- The club’s player of the year in his first campaign with the Seagulls.
6. Peter Suddaby- Experienced defender who made a profound difference to the organisation in defence.

Middlesbrough
1.Jim Stewart- Third choice Scottish keeper at the 1974 World Cup. Saved Ward’s penalty but could not stop the rebound.
2.John Craggs- Right-back who switched from rivals Newcastle in 1971 Ever-present for Boro in 1979/80.
3.Irving Nattrass- Another player who switched from North East rivals Newcastle. Signed for Boro in a £375,000 deal in 1979.
4.Craig Johnston- Later scored an equaliser for Liverpool against Brighton in the 1983 FA Cup tie.
5.Billy Ashcroft- Brought down Lawrenson for the penalty near the end.
6.Tony McAndrew- Aston Villa’s current youth team coach. McAndrew was a tough tackling centre-half.
7.Terry Cochrane- This winger was a record £233,000 signing for Middlesbrough from Burnley in October 1978.
8.Mark Proctor -Highly rated midfielder who made 109 league appearances for Boro before joining Nottingham Forest in 1981. Later returned to Ayresome Park in 1989.
9.David Hodgson- Second top scorer with seven Division One goals in 1979/90.
10.Micky Burns- Also scored in the 1-1 draw with the Seagulls at Ayresome Park in November 1979.
11.David Armstrong- England international midfielder who was ever-present for Boro in 1979/80.
Sub 12. Graeme Hedley (for Nattrass)- Midfielder who made 50 appearances for Boro between 1975 and 1982.
