Tomer Hemed*has welcomed Albion’s increased competition for places – despite losing his starting role.
The Israeli came off the bench to head the winner in the Seagulls’ stunning comeback against Charlton on Saturday.
James Wilson got the nod ahead of him while Bobby Zamora played the full 90 minutes for the first time since rejoining the club.
All three frontmen scored in the second half as Albion to seal a remarkable 3-2 victory.
Hemed told The Argus: “I wasn’t disappointed to be left out.
“I’m very happy we have new players who have come to help us,.
“It has made the team better and can help us.
“It is a long season. There is no one who can play every 90 minutes.”
Albion are preparing for potentially their most challenging week of the season as they face Derby, QPR and Middlesbrough.
Boss Chris Hughton will have to be particularly careful with how he uses Zamora for three big tests in eight days.
Hemed admits he could be on the bench again but said: “I’m happy with this competition. It will make all the players better.”
A young Albion under-21s side lost 4-0 away to Swansea City in a midday kick-off yesterday.
