Brighton & Hove Albion fans are being given the chance to own a rare piece of club memorabilia.The club’s official charity, Albion in the Community (AITC), is auctioning off the players' shirts from the game with Cardiff City back on Saturday 3rd October.
That match was used to celebrate 25 years of the club’s award-winning community work and the team took to the field in limited edition shirts carrying the AITC logo.
Supporters were given the chance to buy replicas of the one-off shirts on the day, but the charity is now selling those issued to the squad – with each top signed by the specific player.
Albion drew the game 1-1 thanks to a goal from Dale Stephens, and the midfielder’s shirt is among those being sold.
Others include those used by Lewis Dunk, Uwe Huenemeier, England Under-21 international Solly March, fans’ favourite Inigo Calderon and Israeli internationals Tomer Hemed and Beram Kayal.
The money generated by the online sale will go towards AITC’s effort to raise £25,000 from the game. Generous fans played their part by bringing £1 to the game to donate to the charity and a silent auction helped push the total to over £16,000.

A number of supporters also signed up to take on fundraising challenges for the charity, which in the last year alone engaged with more than 30,000 people across Sussex.Earlier this month, AITC won The Argus newspaper’s Contribution to Sussex Sport category at The Argus Community Stars Awards, having already scooped the prize for Best Football Community Scheme Outside the Premier League at the Football Business Awards.
Gary Townsend, the charity’s chief operating officer, said, “AITC has enjoyed an amazing few weeks – first with our 25th anniversary game and then with the awards. It is always nice for the charity to receive official recognition because our teams are out making a difference to the community of Sussex every single day.
“To continue our work, however, we need to raise money and hopefully the sale of these shirts will provide fans with a great opportunity to support us and own a great piece of Albion memorabilia at the same time.”
