Brighton & Hove Albion's women's team turn their attentions to cup action when they host Gillingham in the Premier League Cup first round at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
Marrs will see some familiar faces when the Seagulls take on his former club and he is expecting anything but an easy game against a team plying their trade in the Premier League South East Division One - one tier below Albion.

He said, “I’m really looking forward to locking horns with Gillingham and their manager Darren Hare.

“Their assistant manager, Jack Wheeler, is a good friend of mine and someone who I worked with closely during my time there, but my main priority will be to ensure we progress to the next round.

“It should be a great tactical battle that we are ready to face.

“The girls have been working hard this week and hopefully that will pay off on Sunday.”
Albion go into the game after a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic, but Marrs said the result paled into insignificance following the tragic events of last Saturday.

“We are devastated and our minds weren’t really on the game.

“The mood in the dressing room was very quiet. The 0-0 draw was okay but it didn’t really matter at all. We could have won 1-0 with a last-minute goal and the mood would not have been any different.

“We will dedicate Sunday’s game to Matthew Grimstone and his family and it would be nice to dedicate a win as well. But, at the same time, a tragedy like this puts football and a lot of other things into perspective.”

“In the under-17 squad we currently have five international players, Hannah Gardener and Bronwen Thomas are currently with the England under-16s and Amelia Ritchie is also repeatedly earning call-ups for the Wales under-17 squads.* The future looks very bright indeed."
