I'd love as many "sports refugees" as we can get into Oz.

So more Sudanese(for basketball), Iranians for those few Olympics sports we're never any good at, maybe a few Kenyans for running etc

No Sri Lankans or Indians though thanks, they are not very good at sport.

And we're off, the first unfounded smear of the thread , anyone wanting to talk about immigration or even take control of our own borders is a ''right wing extremist''.

It's brilliant isn't it. Maybe we should come up with an equally pathetic claim like 'Anyone supporting the immigration levels is a left wing peodophile.

Come off it. Are you claiming the UK doesn't have right wing
Extremists?
The BNP
EDL
March for England
Some members of UKIP

Of course there are Right Wing extremists, just as there are Left Wing extremists...the difference between us taking in immigrants and Germany taking them in is land availability. We are in case you haven't noticed just a small island. It is not just bringing them in the country, when they get here they want to bring their aunts, uncles and other relatives, all have to be housed, they all need schools, doctors, there is a limit...you can only put so much milk in a bottle.
Now,before you attack me for being a right wing extremist...I housed an immigrant for two years, have you done that!
I have signed the petition to bring over and house the Afghan interpreters.
Immigration is fine if it is controlled.
You who attack the Tories and the present day government please answer me this. If this country is so poorly run why are thousands and thousands of immigrants queueing up in France trying to reach the UK..an immigrant should claim asylum in the first country he gets too that is safe.
Right,I shall don my steel hat and retire to the trenches to avoid the incoming. Have a good day...

Enough is enough, far from the helping the situation the EU is just encouraging more and more people to make this Journey. Over 200 people found dead again. Is that not enough for some people just to say the most sensible option to stop these people making this journey in the first place. Something is going to give eventually.

How do you propose doing that? Sending troops to patrol every port in the southern Mediterranean? What about those migrants landing in the canaries? Sending troops to every port in west Africa? Whose troops would they be? The UN? The U.S.? THe EU...who don't have a standing army themselves? The U.S. Have their own issues with Mexican migration so they don't give a stuff about what is going on in Europe...watching American news channels the last few weeks on board show that.

This is the first time almost since the Protestant/ catholic uprisings in the time of William and Mary that there has ben a mass migration of people ( perhaps also the Jews to Palestine after the war) where Huguenots and went one way and Catholics etc went the other.

You say say Europe is encouraging more, I am not sure what you mean...how are we encouraging more? At the end of the day we have to be seen to be sympathetic to fellow human beings, especially those fleeing war and famine. The suggestion that we just turn our backs is not viable is it.

hahahahahahaha... thanks for that. Its brilliant. I had no idea my life was in ruins. Anyway, im out of the thread now. Please carry on solving the nations immigration problem. The nation is relying on you.

You clearly did not read much then.

"Cannabis effects how your brain works. It can make you feel very anxious and even paranoid, it can make it difficult for you to concentrate and learn, make your memory worse and make you feel less motivated.

Using it has also been linked, in some people, to serious, long-term mental health problems."

....It is a neoliberal wet dream delivering a docile ,grateful and cheap workforce.

This phrase 'neo-liberal'. You do know it doesn't actually mean anything, don't you? It's just a lazy term of abuse that the left use without context or justification, see also 'Red Tory'. It's all various shades of laissez-faire capitalism and that's been around as long as socialism and its track record in delivering prosperity, freedom, improved quality of life beats any of the socialist experiments this world has had to endure. I'm not saying capitalism is perfect but it clearly is better than socialism. History proves it again and again and again. There's nothing 'neo' about it.

I think it might have been the economist Paul Krugman who coined the phrase and he was, probably still is, a massive champion of Chavez's socialist experiment in Venezuela. Since Chavez's party came to power Venezuela has been absolutely ruined, the country is less democratic, it's less safe, less free and although there has been gains by the very, very poorest the only way that you can honestly say that the country has been made more equal is by the fact that almost everyone is now much worse off. Not everyone of course, the richest woman in Venezuela is Chavez's daughter. Funny that. Same story with Mugabe and Castro's children.

Give me neo-liberal over old school socialism any day of the week.

People know when they get rescued there going to be taken to mainland Europe, and when they get to Europe there not going to be sent back, that is the first mistake because it just encourages more and more people. Where does this end? Does it end when the whole of Africa and other countries arrive in the EU. There is not enough of anything to go around especially in some parts of the EU where the economy is wrecked and people are just about managing to feed themselves.

There is also absolutely no distinction at the moment between people who are in genuine need or people who are just using this an opportunity to get to the EU for economic reasons. We can't help everyone. We need to get real about the situation. Apart from that there is also the security issues to take in to consideration, and the possibility that the EU could get wrapped up in other countries political and religious issues.

Edited for you.
