Jamie Murphy, 25, began his career in his native Scotland with Clyde, before joining Motherwell during his teenage years. After progressing through Well’s ranks, the Glasgow-born forward went on to make his competitive debut against Celtic in 2007 at the age of 17, before making his full debut away at Dundee United a month later.
The following season saw the winger make 17 appearances under the management of former Albion boss Mark McGhee, and he ended the campaign by scoring his first career goal from the penalty spot in a 2-0 win over Hibernian on the final day of the 2007/08 season - as Motherwell qualified for Europe for the first time in 13 years.
Murphy became a regular in Motherwell’s first team over the next four seasons, helping the club qualify for the Champions League in 2012, the Europa League in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013 plus helping the side reach the 2011 Scottish Cup Final.

After a successful seven-year stint at Fir Park, Murphy headed south and joined Sheffield United in January 2013, making his debut in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Oxford United.Murphy’s season ended in disappointment though as the Blades were defeated 2-1 on aggregate by Yeovil Town in the League One Play-Off semi-final.

The following year the winger was part of the United team that enjoyed a memorable FA Cup run all the way to the semi-finals, scoring in the 5-3 defeat to Hull City at Wembley. Murphy also scored the opening goal at Villa Park during the team’s shock 2-1 third-round win over Aston Villa.

The Scot hit 13 goals in 58 appearances last term as he helped the Blades to the League One Play-Offs but, once again, United would taste defeat in the semi-finals, losing 7-6 on aggregate to Swindon Town - Murphy playing in the memorable 5-5 second-leg draw at the County Ground.
To date the winger has over 60 career goals to his name and over 200 appearances, and he has also represented Scotland at under-21 level.
