as 10cc say, not in hove
I think we has been in the country yesterday or even day before, did the medical (and passed), then had to go to Paris to get the work permit which allowed him to come back and sign the contract. Delay has come because Leicestershestershire United clearly had a good go at winning the race. They didn't, so he's now on his way to sign and show the shirt.

this seems the mostly reasonable assessment, he'd have had a medical went back for his visa and will shortly be unveiled. exciting times!

10,000 people on a Brighton football forum. Impressive.

That’s not how it works, he’d have to have signed the contract and actually have a job before the club can apply for the work permit. Once he’s signed the contract there would be nothing any other club can do.

He wouldn’t be in Paris getting a work permit, they are issued by the home office. He would have been in Paris securing his visa to enter the UK to finalise negotiations, do a medical and sign the contact. The club would then apply via the FA for a work permit, once this is issued he would then go back to Paris to arrange a new visa that allows him to enter the country on his work permit and start work with his new club.

You’ve only got to look at what Jose Izquierdo did after we had announced his signing last year to see how it works.
