Agreed. Gone flat for me too.

The mid-window World Cup Transfer Lull seems to have started early !

I still don't think McNair seems like a genuine target - and £7 million is *madness*.

The 'Reading Fan Valuation' of Liam Moore at £15 million also seems *bonkers* - but if that could be offset massively by trading Baldock with them, then that is quite inspiring.

The King of the Inspiring Rumours, though, is Franco Cervi to replace Skalak.
That rumour is a winner.

A lot of seasons are the same. When we bought both Baldock and Duffy, there were early rumours which went quite until the last few days of the window, and then they both ended up with us.

Would make sense as the Goldson replacement. Cheaper than Moore I expect.

If you believe that Liam Moore will be sold for £15m or even £30m (as quoted last season by Reading being bullish in press conferences.
Just normal talking up his price nonsense.

So, Leicester have signed Jonny Evans from WBA for a reported £3.5M

Puts the Moore and Goldson values into some context.

Agreed. And of course Moore hasn't been sold (yet) and won't be for £15m or anything like it and Goldson "value" is as yet not agreed. And more than likely much more than the figures being quoted in breathless press stories.
And what about their wages ?

Leicester will be able to pay much higher wages than we can, plus I'm sure there will be a hefty signing on fee.

Doesn't really though does it. That's his release clause. His real current value would be what, £25-30M? Even at aged 30.

What Betfair Bozo says. Transfer fees are as much determined by contractual situations, as they are by the quality and/or potential of a player.

Window - Where we are - Friday June 8th -

*new* James Chester (Aston Villa) - 29 year old Centre Back, Welsh international, HGP - That look for a CB goes on. Telegraph had a small piece overnight reporting that "Villa, meanwhile, are also facing a battle to keep Wales international James Chester, with a number of Premier League clubs ready to offer £8m.
Chester was arguably Villa's player of the year last season and it has emerged that technical director Steve Round has already knocked back a serious inquiry from one club, believed to be Brighton."
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...realish-mauricio-pochettino-identifies-aston/

Liam Moore (Reading) - 25 year old, Centre Back, HGP, 17/18 Reading player of the year - Nothing on this for a few days...

or this

Ezri Konsa (Charlton)- 20 year old, Eng u20 international, Centre Back, HGP - Trail on this has gone quiet although , again, obviously linked to Goldson exit.

Looks like that "cluster strategy" from old is still in play. 3 similar priced CBs (we know about) on the go...

David Button (Fulham) - 29 year old Goalkeeper, HGP - Argus has some new reporting this morning. TIm Krul is "expected to move" but more chance Maenpaa will "opt to stay". And Walton is "expected" to go on loan. Perhaps suggesting that Button is all a bit premature the Argus sources are only prepared to commit to saying Albion "have goalkeeping options in mind but no concrete plans.
http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/16277347.Albion_eye_goalkeeper_targets_to_push_Ryan/

Paddy McNair (Sunderland) - 23 year old Centre Back, NI international - The Sun hinted that this was close yesterday. Albion "on the verge" of signing McNair for £5m+£2m add ons. Hughton was just waiting for him to come back from international duty and it would be done. (warning - this is a Alan Dixon from The Sun story)
In a classic non denial denial, Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald tweeted he wasn't having it. Well almost. He insisted there had been no new bids from Albion but The Sun story never said that there had been. "We will see" he said.

What else ?
Delaney - it really is over. Off to BVB.

Club have had a bit too much coffee this morning and are insisting we read an article looking back at er, Jiri Skalak's 17/18 campaign.

LCFC supposedly bid £20m+ in Jan for Evans. Similar situation as us and Andone.

Can you imagine how much the agent has made and what signing on fee Evans has trousered? The £3.5m fee will be the tip of the iceberg anyway.

And importantly, the £3.5m figure is a complete red herring (except to WBA). Leicester will have paid a LOT more than that, to secure his services.

Leicester Recruitment Chap: Hi. We hear Jonny has a release clause of £3.5m?
Jonny Evans' Agent: That's right.
LRC: Sweet, we'll get on the phone to West Brom and get it done.
JEA: Nice one. Jonny's worth far more of course. Pay West Brom the £3.5m and let's say £5m to Jonny as a signing-on fee. Everyone's a winner.
LRC: Deal.

Hanover have reportedly turned down 10m from BMG (work that out for yourself) for Nicky Fulking.

Come on Mr Bloom 15m is still a snip and you'll be able to offload Murray as well as Hemed and Baldock.

Window - Where we are - Saturday June 9th -

*new* James Chester (Aston Villa) - 29 year old Centre Back, Welsh international, HGP - That look for a CB goes on and on and on as the Goldson deal is finalised. The Telegraph were the first to link us with the Villa veteran on Thursday night and said we had made enquiries. But Brian Owen from the Argus yesterday struck a more cautious note . Although again a non denial denial from the Albion - The Telegraph hadn't said they'd made a bid - "Being advised that James Chester is not of interest to #bhafc. Of course things can change over a long summer. But that’s the latest. No bid made." - https://twitter.com/Brian__Owen/status/1005149291546017801

Liam Moore (Reading) - 25 year old, Centre Back, HGP, 17/18 Reading player of the year - Bit more interest in this chap though...Nothing on this for a few days...although Argus piece this morning confirms again that Albion "remain keen".

or this

Ezri Konsa (Charlton)- 20 year old, Eng u20 international, Centre Back, HGP - Trail on this has gone quiet although , again, obviously linked to Goldson exit.

Looks like that "cluster strategy" from old is still in play. 3 similar priced CBs (we know about) on the go and the Goldson fee/value, although debated endlessly on here like the heat of the Three Bears porridge (too much!, about right! etc etc) is still not agreed.
http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/alb...game_for_Albion_as_work_continues_on_Goldson/

David Button (Fulham) - 29 year old Goalkeeper, HGP - Unsurprisingly Albion are looking at keepers given that things aren't confirmed with Krul. But on that...Club issued their retained list yesterday and clarified where we are with the goalkeeping situation.
Krul - its "discussions" - "are still in discussions with goalkeeper Tim Krul and his agent over the possibility of extending his stay"
but with Maenpaa though - its "open negotiations " -"club will now open negotiations with Maenpaa regarding a new deal"
http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/16277347.Albion_eye_goalkeeper_targets_to_push_Ryan/

Paddy McNair (Sunderland) - 23 year old Centre Back, NI international - Although The Sun were reporting (see yesterday's write up) we were on the "verge" of signing the lad on Thursday , then clearly that doesn't actually mean "on the verge of" or "soon" at all.

*new* Josh Murphy (Norwich) - 23 year old Winger, HGP - HITC, not the most reliable when it comes to this stuff, says we are "lining up [a] move. Palace and Leicester were also said to be "keeping tabs" on him a few weeks back. And so are Fulham and well pretty much everyone else according to the rather vague reports so far. First thing about any winger of course -Can he defend ? - Also perhaps first sign this summer that Albion are looking for another attacking option...

What else ?
Rohan Ince is definitely leaving (but we knew that). A real shame as once he looked like he was on the cusp of being a real Lawrenson type maruading defender/mid/prospect. http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/162...departing_four_as_Albion_confirm_Ince_can_go/
Crawley Town , home to our u23s / Womans teams, are in a bit of a financial pickle. https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/status/1005331373681504256
