There might be zero chances of us singing anyone.
But £70m chances of Newcastle landing their catches:-

Rafael Benitez will meet Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley next week to discuss how to move forward following the club's return to the Premier League. The Spaniard is likely to be offered a transfer budget of around £70m. (Daily Telegraph)

They'll be disappointed with that effort. They missed an opportunity to use the obligatory war chest.

We should get news of contract extensions soon after the Villa game.

Although I suspect that at least for Stephens it'll still be uncertain for now.

I think that 70 mil spent wisely is more than enough.

But Benitez can't spend wisely, he needs £70m to waste and a further £70m to cover the cracks.

It'll end in tears.

Is that what he would buy or his budget? Very important distinction. And if its what he would buy can the curly wurly play left back?

Hughton should bid for Dario Curlywurly, the left-back and free-kick expert from Argentine giants Arsenal Sarandi... also, Edmundo & Carlos Packetacrispa, the midfield water-carrier and striker from Brazilan Serie A side Vasco da Gama...

He spent well enough putting together an almost entirely new team to get out of the Championship at the first attempt.
No he didn't.

He spent x times more than anybody else, over paying for a team to guarantee promotion which he did with 1 game to go.

Were Villa not such a basketcase Benitez' 'achievement' would be laughed at.

Quite an easy feat to be fair, paying the wages they are. If you can tempt players from the premier league to join you, you are not gonna go too far wrong in the championship!

The one significant fact in that statement is that he achieved promotion, which was his sole aim for this season. Nobody is denying that he spent a lot, but his spending resulted in exactly what he set out to do = success.
