Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton believes every club in the Championship will be grateful for the current international break.

After a hectic fixture list which has seen many sides playing regular midweek and weekend games, Hughton feels everyone will benefit from the two-week hiatus.Speaking after the 1-0 win at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday he told seagulls.co.uk, “I think [the international break] is welcome for everybody, certainly everybody in this division, and it will allow us to assess what we’ve got.*
“It gives those that certainly need a good rest a break, and for those that need the extra work we will certainly have that opportunity.
“It’s best to go into the break on the back of a win because when you’ve lost a game then you want the next game to come around fairly quickly.
“Now we can use the time off in the best way that we can and we will do exactly that.”

Meanwhile the Albion boss acknowledged that he and the club have some tough choices to make regarding players’ contracts, including Greg Halford - whose deal expires with parent club Nottingham Forest in the summer - but says no decisions will be made until the Seagulls are safe in the Championship.
“We’ve got lots of decisions to make on players and when we’re mathematically in the best position we can be then it allows us to think about those things with a little bit more freedom.
“At this moment all Greg can keep doing is train as well as he has been and play in as many games as he can in this final bit of his loan deal.”
On a more immediate note, winger Emmanuel Ledesma’s short-term loan with Albion runs out this Thursday and Hughton says that it is another situation the club are reviewing.
He added, “There were some good parts of his game Saturday at Blackburn, so that’s a decision we’ll make as well.
“We have until Thursday to see what we want to do in the market; whether we want to keep him or bring somebody else in. So we’ll use these next couple of days to make that decision.”
