But he wasn't, and we won another 3 points away from home, meaning that we're nearly safe in the Premier League again.

How's your season going?

Much better now we have a proper manager. Thanks for asking. .

Yes massive mistake letting him go but I'm not sure Poyet could have done much about it if Bloom and co weren't prepared to match Palace's offer. The kind of thing that I'm sure got the words ceiling forming in his head.

Revisionist nonsense. Murray wanted more money, but it was Poyet's call whether we paid it. He was asked outright "is Murray worth paying £x/week". Poyet decided he was not.

Spot on.

Murray wanted to stay, not wanting to travel and he was settled in Brighton, and wanted £6k per week wages. Poyet, and Poyet alone, made it a cause celebre not to concede, and the rest is history. To put the £6k in perspective, CMS joined on £11k per week in the very same transfer window.

I don't know where you got your figures from, but they are patently untrue.

The evidence appears to be that Glenn Murray has no interest whatsoever in coming back to the albion, as clearly we'd have him back if he did. Happy enough to go on loan to Reading, though.

So long, Glenn, thanks for all the fish etc, shame you had no desire to turn out for us at the AMEX.

I think he was on £4.5k, Palace offered around £12k, we offered him £7.5k, he said he would stay for £9k. Bloom asked Poyet if he should pay the £9k, and Poyet said no.

And to add to the other plaudits, he was the best performing Premier League player of the weekend, according to the EA Sports Player Performance Index

Glenn Murray beats Wayne Rooney Philippe Coutinho Premier League's best performing player weekend

Massively found out, my derrière. :D

Basically a shoe-in for the B'allon D'or next season then. :ffsmurray:

Look at all the stats you want, but watch the actual game, how far off the pace he was and the silly fouls he was making shows he isn't cut out for the Premier League, especially given his age now. Great Championship player though

It is funny how Palace can go into administration twice and, within months of exiting their second administration, whilst still a Championship club, afford to pay Glenn Murray a lot more money than we, a well-run club, could.

Jamie Redknapp doesn't appear to agree with your analysis.

"At Upton Park he looked every inch a top-flight striker. His movement was good, he held the ball up well and though he was lucky with his first goal, his second was top class."

"Yes, he tainted his day with a silly red card, but he looked like he was loving every minute. He deserves it."

So the Gazzetta dello Sporta and Garth Crooks have no idea what makes a good performance?

Looking forward to your next thread. :)

Well if the Oracle Jamie says so, then it's good enough for me

Murray wanted £6k per week to stay, but Poyet didn't like losing any 'argument', so cut off the club's nose to spite its face. Several players joined us the very same window on £6k per week or far more - CMS, Hoskins, Vicente, Buckley - CMS for example earning £11k per week. Poyet's mega mistake and Palace's gain.

Props for saying that and keeping a straight face. :D

How much do you owe Tony? How much are you losing each year? What is the business model for use of the Amex? etc, etc.
