Albion have confirmed the recapture of Nottingham Forest utility player Greg Halford on loan for the rest of the season.
Halford's loan has been extended initially on a short-term emergency basis so that he is available for tomorrow's FA Cup tie at Brentford.
It will then be converted into the rest of the campaign, with the exception of being disallowed from facing Forest when they visit The Amex on February 7.
Albion's new manager Chris Hughton said: “Greg has done well in his period of time here, so to bring someone back who already knows the club, the staff and the players so early in the window is something we are delighted about.
“He gives us good scope in the various positions he can play and, of course, he is a very experienced player and I am pleased to welcome him back.”
Halford, 30, has been used at centre-half by Albion in recent matches. He can also play right-back, midfield and as an emergency striker.
The January transfer window officially opens for business tomorrow but Albion have been able to move quickly to secure Halford via their existing arrangement for the player to stave off interest in him also from Millwall and Fulham.
