Albion have landed a wise, old head to cure their Championship ills.
You would not think so to look at him but Chris Hughton is comfortably the oldest manager the Seagulls have ever appointed.
The 56-year-old Londoner's experience outstrips Martin Hinshelwood, who was 47 when he landed the job in 2002.
Hinshelwood was a few days older than Brian Horton when he took charge in 1998.
Hughton is the oldest manager of the club since Billy Lane, who was 57 when he left in 1961.
Charlie Webb was the oldest ever (60) in 1947.
