Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Gary Gardner has sidestepped the immediate threat of a one-match ban, by avoiding a fifth yellow card against Fulham at the weekend.

Gardner had picked up four bookings ahead of Saturday's game - which was the final match before the FA's five-booking amnesty threshold for Football League clubs.Gordon Greer and Kazenga LuaLua had also received four domestic yellow cards - but the Albion skipper missed out through injury, while LuaLua limped out of the action early in the game.

LATEST NEWS FROM SEAGULLS.CO.UK

From now on Football League players will only be suspended for a cumulative number of bookings if they are subject to ten cautions before the second Sunday in April.Midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey and defender Lewis Dunk each collected five bookings before the end of November cut-off point; meaning they'd face a two-game ban if they reach ten bookings before the April threshold.
Further suspensions are also applied for 15 and 20 bookings, with the latter requiring the player being automatically required to attend an FA hearing.
