Paddy is Sami's great challenge.

Sami wants to play possession football with a purpose. But we still don't seem to be able to play at pace and with power. We play intricate possession football. We let teams shape up against us and then try to pick our way through them. We try to out-pass teams. If all of that is true then surely Paddy is nailed on perfect for the Albion in its current guise. He is about as talented a British footballer as there is - BUT - he will not put in a defensive shift so beloved/needed(?) for modern football. When we have the ball Paddy could (will) be devastating. But when we don't, then we could be one body shy. At Watford, Paddy's cameo was Vicente-esque (especially the mazy run/dribble into their box at the end).

No.10 anyone? Central and pulling strings?

If our right-back isn't expected to defend why should our playmaker?
