1984......went to work for Lloyds Bank. Whilst doing my A levels I worked in a slaughterhouse, killing and processing chickens 3 nights a week.

This thread makes me sad for all the young people, for whom it is so hard to find every day jobs that was so easy for previous generations to get. Interesting though.

One of the reasons why I got into refereeing. Good money and something I enjoy. But for that reason that it's hard to get a job, is the reason why I'm going to university.

1982, Youth Opportunity Scheme (later became YTS) at Lucas on the corner of Old Shoreham Road and Nevill Road. Earned £21 per week take home, gave a tenner to mum, and got a better job a month later.

First full time job - bar man / wine waiter.
