T'was a straight red IMO. If Crofts tackle was a red that certainly was, poor challenge.

This. Ive seen Jack Wilshire commit two tackles in consecutive games on telly, which were comparable to Crofty's - and he wasnt shown a red for either. Arsenal v Everton, and then v Besiktas. Where is the consistency? Is it one rule for England media darlings, and another for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielders?

Consistency is the key, and there seems to be too little of that with refs in recent seasons. All too often as well, if a referee doesn't spot an incident but his assistant does, the assistant won't flag to bring it to the refs attention. Too afraid of making a decision that could be incorrect presumably.

Can MODS please adjust incorrect thread title, rather than keep giving us all unwarranted cause for concern.
