Brighton are back in the race and leading the way to sign @CorkCityFC defender Brian Lenihan.

Arsenal also interested apparently...

How do they mean 'leading the way' ? Agreed a fee? Had talks with player? Made official bid?

Only what I've read, not seen him play.

Apparently he's happy at RB, CB or CM. Lots of teams after him and I'd certainly be chuffed if we signed him up,

So not a Left-Back then, but with clubs like Arsenal in for him, I'd be chuffed too. From what you've read would he go straight into training with the first team?

The obvious comparison here would be with when Everton signed Seamus Coleman. Therefore this is guaranteed to be a great signing.

Plays right back or centre back and his preferred position is central midfield. has been linked with/touted to plenty of clubs, including Arsenal.

Which means he will be Ulloa's replacement?

20 years old now

"Undoubtedly one of the hottest prospects in League of Ireland football, City managed to tie down Brian in July 2012, from Munster Senior League side College Corinthians.

He played with his local club all the way up, and has performed at international schoolboy level as well as recently turning out for the Republic of Ireland U19 side.

Lenihan has shown himself to be an intelligent, skilled and versatile player, who can operate in defence as well as his preferred central midfield role.

At just 18 he is certainly one to watch out for, but right now he’s solely focused on obtaining a starting place in the Cork City first team."

Sounds like a young Colin Hawkins.

"Brian Lenihan set for Premier League move with Crystal Palace and Hull vying for Cork City defender
Cork City ful-back Brian Lenihan is set for a move to the Premier League
Arsenal, Tottenham, Man United, Everton and Aston Villa have watched him
Crystal Palace and Hull have made offers, although they have been rejected
Cork manager John Caulfield accepts the player will leave in next two weeks

Cork City full-back Brian Lenihan is being trailed by a number of English clubs with Crystal Palace and Hull City already making offers.
Cork manager John Caulfield has admitted that Republic of Ireland international Lenihan could leave the club within ‘the next couple of weeks’ after the 20-year-old impressed scouts.
‘A lot of teams have watched him, but it’s a business deal and it isn’t up to Cork City to name the clubs involved,’ Caulfield said. ‘Everyone knows who has watched him; Arsenal have, Hull have, we’ve realised that Manchester United have watched him, Tottenham, Everton and Villa have watched him.

‘They’ve all had direct club employees to look at him as opposed to some of the championship clubs, who’d have an agent saying he’s representing them.
‘The official situation is that we received two bids and both have been rejected. One of the clubs has come back to us and we’re in negotiations with them but there’s still quite a bit of work to do.
‘Do I think that he’ll be gone across channel in the next couple of weeks? I believe that he will, and we have to make sure that we get the proper deal and Brian does too.
‘What we have to try and do is a structured deal that if he plays international football or moves on elsewhere, we get rewarded. That’s probably what you have to look at.’

Celtic are also understood to be one of the clubs keen but Cork want to strike a deal where the right-back can return on loan.
Having suffered concussion in a fall in a 2-0 loss at Bohemians last week, Lenihan is not available for Friday’s home clash against champions St Pat’s.
Hull are understood to have discussed a bid of £100,000 even though Crystal Palace have had an offer of £130,000 rejected."

Cork’s Lenihan tipped for Tigers in near future

CORK City full-back Brian Lenihan will play two more matches for his club before his successful move to Hull City, sources in Ireland say.

Cork face Bray Wanderers and Bohemians before the end of the week, so Tigers fans can expect a new signing through the door well before the closure of the transfer window on September 1.

However, it could take more than £130,000 to land the 20-year-old after that offer from Crystal Palace was rejected earlier this month.

BIDDING WAR STARTS FOR CORK CITY’S BRIAN LENIHAN

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 06, 2014
Cork City’s Brian Lenihan has some of the top clubs in England chasing him with Spurs, Aston Villa and Arsenal all in the hunt for the defender’s signature.

A BIDDING war is set to break out between two English Premier League clubs, three sky BET Championship sides and one Scottish Premier League side for the signature of Cork City star Brian Lenihan.
Yesterday, the club received and rejected an initial bid from a well-established Premier League side for the former College Corinthians right-back, and that was soon followed up by bids from three other English clubs, including a second Premier League side and one from Scotland.
Lenihan, 20, and an Irish U21 international was set to return to first-team action on Friday night against St Pat’s following his recovery from concussion but now it looks as if he may have played his last game for the club and all going well he could be sold in the next 48 hours.
Either way, with negotiations ongoing, the likelihood is that he has played his last game for the club.
“We rejected an initial bid from a Premier League club yesterday and immediately more offers arrived from another Premier League club, several Cchampionship teams and one club from Scotland,” a source close to the club said.
“We are expecting more bids today for the player and hopefully it can all be completed quickly.”
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR are just four of the Premier League club’s who have watched the player in recent weeks.
Arsenal’s Cchief Sscout Steve Rowley watched him recently against Limerick, while Roy Keane himself watched Lenihan against Limerick also and was very impressed with the player.
SpursTottenham and QPR had their scouts at City’s recent game with Drogheda, while other clubs to watch him recently are Bournemouth, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town
