Maybe not a priority, maybe someone we have an unexpected opportunity to sign........like when Vicente appeared out of the blue.

doubt it though.

Just a thought, has this rumour come from the talk of us chasing Dijk. Maybe someone has just passed on the wrong name, chineese whispers style.

Much as Poyet disappointed me, I think he would have been a major factor in Vicente's move to us.

Without a doubt. He also said that when you get an opportunity to sign a player of that quality you take it even if your'e not looking for players in that position. That would apply to Veltman

IF, if Hyypia wants to use 3-5-2 as his preferred formation, a centre back is definitely a priority. Unless he thinks Maxi and the other ds lads are ready to be called upon if we get a couple of injury's and suspensions.

At the moment we have Dunk, Hughes and Greer with very little else, we all saw how easily Derby ripped us apart when Greer got injured and Upson was already out.

Even only playing 2 centre backs we are still short of cover, its not as high priority as a decent left back, obviously but it is still a priority all the same.

This squad still has too many gaps to fill and you can't necessarily sign them all in the order of importance.

If we play 3-5-2 I'd argue another CB is a more important aquisition than another left back. Chicksen would suit the role of a left wing back as he has plenty of pace. With 3 central defenders it means he has a bit if extra cover behind him when he goes forward which would make him less of a weak link.
