rather than keep searching for a marquee striker for about 2million to 4 million, or a free transfer, or a budget foreign striker that doesnt know the english game, would it be sensible to take a punt on a proven striker from league 1 or league 2 ?
im thinking someone of the 6ft plus mould, big hold up type who can do the nitty gritty and can stand getting bashed about a bit, and get 20 goals a season, Tom Pope comes to mind ?

Pope would be a great signing for Palace !

Gus Poyet has said that Connor Wickham will be shown the door if he doesn't sign a new contract.
Shown the door? He's premier league quality, Sunderland want to keep him, and he'll have other offers if he's going (from PL clubs). He's got a year left on his contract, so if Gus wants to show him the door, they'll have to pay his contract first.

Thought COG was the hold up guy, back to goal, holding play up and bringing others in??? We need an out and out poacher now - rare commodities that cost big bucks. Still think Callum Wilson would have been a good addition to our strike force but never mind.

Could be a brialliant signing IMO

If he doesn't sign a new contract at Sunderland, it won't be with a view to halve his wages here.
