I remember 1970-71 me and my brother had to fetch our older sister from the 67 Centre in Moulsecoomb when she went past curfew. It always looked good from the outside with the music blaring and the disco lights flashing as we were told by our sister Never but never to go inside the club but ask some older kids hanging around outside for her, she said we were too young to go inside. When we reached a certain age and started to go to the 67 Centre it was crap.

Not looking at my phone every 10 minutes (bloody smartphones - love them and hate them)

Collecting conkers and obviously playing conkers

Going in doors just before it got dark to avoid being grounded
Playing Pokemon game on game boy
Playing tennis in the street using a line in the road as the net
Jumpers for goalposts football
Building bike jumps out of mud in the woods
Riding around on my bike all day with mates
Playing tennis straight after school all night on a Friday until it was dark in summer
Using MSN to talk to my mates in the evenings rather than free texts or whatsapp etc.
Water fights with water balloons and pistols
Buying BB guns and bangers in France on school trips
Wrestling in the house suplexing on the sofa! (The crippler cross face does actually hurt
)
Kicking footballs at cars - obviously by accident and being shouted at by neighbours.
Buy fizzy jerks out of vending machines or those fruit polo's (do they even sell them anymore?)
Being a kid was flipping great!

Again back in the early 70s we used to go door to door carol singing, out side a house when suddenly a bucket of water was thrown over me from the top window, I was soaked, the bloke who did this thought we were friends of his playing a joke. He rushed down stairs when he realised we were not friends and gave me £1 for my trouble.
Think a lot of people haven't read the thread title properly: it's about what kids don't do now, not what they don't do now. Kids still play conkers and knock down ginger, have water fights, go to Saturday morning cinema club, go carol singing, play marbles etc.
But buying fags is definitely out, I remember missing the first few minutes of the 66 World Cup buying some Gold Leaf for my old man. And sadly, you can't buy milk out of milk machines any more

Recording Top of The Pops off the tv on a Thursday evening on a reel to reel tape recorder with a mike strategically placed on a table in front of the speaker. This practice included telling parents not to make a sound for half an hour!

At 14 my sister who was 16 took me to the hungry years! My boys have to wait to 18 before they go clubbing(or as we said the disco)

Street bike riding for miles, without a helmet, without parents worrying.
Bus and train journeys to other towns, on my own or with mates, without parents fretting.
Reading, using libraries, rather than the internet.
Making 'camps' in woods, copses.
Endless informal football or cricket with mates after school.
Building individual bonfires on waste ground, greens, large back gardens on Nov 5th.
Buying vinyl records.
Taping selected loved tracks from the Sunday chart countdown on Radio 1. Trying to get the timing right to avoid the annoying chatter by the DJ at the start and end.
Buying Smash Hits and NME.
Receiving a smack from Dad.
Bus and train journeys to other towns, on my own or with mates, without parents fretting.
