Fortunately they won't as because Arsenal finished 4th they go into the 'best placed' category whilst Celtic if they get there will be in the so called 'champions' pot.

Yes, and they'll still average 46,000 fans per home game. Hell, Rangers averaged 45,000+ playing the amateurs in Division 3. What will Leeds be getting, or Sheff Wed, or Birmingham? The Scottish league is poor but these are still two great clubs.

Scotland's coefficient is so poor because they generally do quite badly in Europe. System's very simple - win or draw and you get coefficient, lose and you don't. Not sure how he can't get that.

If Celtic hadn't got back in to the Europa a few years ago due to Sion's issues Scotland would actually be about five places lower and only get one team in R2 of the Europe with the others in R3. Very sharp drop from the days when they got two Champions League places but the massive coefficient drop from when the year Rangers got to the UEFA Cup Final expired did that.

me too. Whatever you say about the scottish league, you are putting a team that has passed the groups stages in the past with the champions of Malta, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Ireland, Wales or Luxembourg's finest. etc. Unless I am mistaken, none of those have reached the group stages in the past few years?

I'm not saying that they should get instant group stage, but 3 stages? Considering they could win this game, and the next, then be drawn against the team that finished SECOND in Cyprus last year. That's just a joke in my opinion.

It's Champions league anyway, not 4th place league.

Also entering at this stage Malmo,Steaua Bucherest,Dinamo Tblisi,Dinamo Zagreb,Partizan Belgrade and Sparta Praha all big names in Europe before The Champions Greed League formed.That's just the way it is these days .

He could always just keep his mouth shut, do his job, get to the knockout phase of the CL this season and then maybe not have to worry about going through three qualifying stages next season.

If Celtic are so good, they should be able to treat these games as regular pre-season friendlies anyway.

Until the last couple of seasons Manchester City have done nothing in EPL or Europe so how is it they are ranked higher than Arsenal or Liverpool ?

Club coefficients determine your seeding, association coefficients and your qualifiying spot (Champions / lower league places for CL; Cup Winner or league placing for Europa) determine where you start.

Consider it a punishment for allowing such a ridiculously lopsided league - if there were 4 acceptable teams going in rather than 1 (formerly 2) strong and 2 joke they'd have a higher coefficient. Celtic should be hoping that Rangers win the cup this year to get them back in and getting points ASAP as the others sure aren't going to do it for them.

Daila needs to realise though that, as realistically the only team getting anywhere in Europe, that if they enter later and then crash out they just drag the coefficient down even further - winning through three rounds of qualifiers is almost essential to keep them where they are.

He'd have a point if they were battering all of these teams 10-0+. They aren't. So he doesn't.

I'd already stated my case for them being a big club by citing recent victories in the Champions League against Barcelona and Ajax. The crowd figures merely confirm the fact they are a big club in every sense of the word.
