Whilst we, as supporters, cheer Lualua whenever he gets the ball. he has to stop the diving and we should show our concern at his attitude. As a club we should not encourage 'cheating'.

http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/laws/football-11-11/law-17---the-corner-kick

Procedure
The ball must be placed inside the corner arc nearest to the point where the ball crossed the goal line
The corner flagpost must not be moved
Opponents must remain at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the corner arc until the ball is in play
The ball must be kicked by a player of the attacking team
The ball is in play when it is kicked and moves
The kicker must not play the ball again until it has touched another player

The highlighted words are ambiguous , the rule needs to be changed to include the word "whole" ie The whole ball must be placed inside the corner arc nearest to the point where the ball crossed the goal line.

I've seen the ball placed on the line with the majority outside the arc.

The current rules can be intepreted so that you only need a fraction of the ball to be in the corner arc to comply with the regulation.

But that isn't the word on the FA/FIFA website. The operative word is inside.

No - not when read in conjunction with the rest of the laws.

Touching the line IS 'within' / 'inside', in all aspects of line based decisions. i.e. if the whole of the ball does not cross the line, it is still considered IN the field of play (even though most of it is not). If the keepr handles the ball on the line of his area, then it is NOT an offence - the ball is considered IN the box. etc, etc.

The argument is that the ball is inside the corner arc albeit fractionally. If you reinstate the original rule of placing the whole ball within the corner arc there is no ambiguity.

But not for goals ie Watford.

Funny how every time we fail to win the ref is crap. This must be why we're not in the Champions League.

Funny how if the ref and linos didn't show, there wouldn't be a game.

Funny how at no point did I say we drew because the ref was awful. We were bad and so was the ref.

thought for a while now, that each area in the country should have a pool of officials who partner each other for every match they do. Would imo lead to more continuity from managers/players/spectators.
Maybe this happens already, but in this day and age surely more doable ??

Er - yes, Exactly like Watford. The whole if the ball was not across the line, therefore it was still considered IN the field of play.

Sky showed the slo mo replay ONCE from the only camera angle proving that the whole of the ball hadn't crossed the line before realising it shot down in flames the comments made by the commentary team before continually using the head on replay

Referees have been cocking it up for the last 150 years , some things will never change.
Incorrect goal line decisions are a thing of the past in the top flight now, thanks to a decision change at FIFA. We just need to use technology for a few more things, like other sports do. There would still be incorrect decisions, but they'd be reduced.

The most shocking decision yesterday was the decision not to book the left back who basically rugby tackled Lingard in the first half (injuring himself in the process)

I was stunned when no card came out.

The more shocking aspect of that particular incident, was the ref was absolutely NOT going to even give a free kick, until the lino started furiously waving his flag.

saw the ref have a word with Oscar as players came out for 2nd half, indicating to Lua Lua to calm down.......
Well that's a bit stupid. The ref wants Oscar to tell one of his players to calm down, so the ref tells him after Oscar has finished his meeting with the players.

The whole thing where players place the ball on the absolute extreme of the corner arc, and sometimes marginally outside, is so ridiculous anyway. They've only got to kick it about 40 yards, its not like they're struggling to make the distance into the box is it ? It is so utterly POINTLESS placing the ball almost outside the arc its actually laughable. What possible difference will stealing a few millimetres make to their corner kick ? When the ball is carefully placed outside the arc they invariably blast it straight into the near-post defender, or hoyke it miles over the whole bloody lot of them anyway. Bravo.

I can only conclude that cheating comes so naturally to footballers, its just second nature. So they'll even do it when its actually pointless and makes no difference. As long as they can get away with it.

Brighton / Hove actually
That's two awful Refs we've had to contend with in 4 days. The Ref on Friday at Huddersfield was equally pathetic and ineffective. Yes he brandished lots of cards but at no stage did he actually exert enough authority to deter the Terriers blatant time wasting for the last 60 minutes of the game. Even Mark Robins and their ball boys took the mickey by killing the game and the Ref never intervened other than to point at his watch - from 40 yards away. The Refs Assistant did feck all too. Completely ineffective, no wonder players feel they can get away with it.

I'm mindful that sometimes the Ref can do us a big favour too - The Albion performance at Barnsley was so dire with Ulloa having his stupid head on, willing to fall over at the slightest touch and then being so petulant that it was amazing he didn't get a red card. Yet a Barnsley player (rightly) did get a red card - but it seemed harsh compared to Ulloa's prima donna act, which was embarrassing at times. D-Rod also got badly clattered in the first few minutes and did a very latin multiple roll as if shot by a sniper, but then got up as if miraculously cured. Understandably the home crowd then really got on our backs and in the Refs ear about us play acting, which didn't do us any favours for the rest of the game.

Although the ref yesterday was awful, you are right that it really doesn't help our cause when Kaz or anyone else gets a reputation for diving or falling over on minimal contact.
