Dale Stephens is happy to sit in a midfield holding role at times
Dale Stephens is ready to keep sacrificing his attacking ambitions to help Albion push for the play-offs.
The Albion midfielder is embracing a revised role since the introduction of Solly March to midfield three games ago.
He is ready to dig in again on Friday as he makes a FOURTH visit of the season to Huddersfield, the club who wanted to sign him last summer.
Stephens said: “I've always preferred the attacking role.
“But sometimes when you bring such an attacking players as Sols into the team, it brings you a bit more defensive responsibility.
“I don't mind that. We take it in turns to get forward.
“It has proved to be good for the team.”
Stephens has already played at the John Smith's Stadium in the Championship and both cups with Charlton this season.
He scored in the Capital One Cup but could get a hard time from home fans after being accused of a red-card tackle in an FA Cup tie in January.
Town boss Mark Robins was angry Stephens was not sent off for his challenge on Adam Hammill which led to players from the two teams squaring up to each other.
Stephens said: “I've played against that team five or six times in the past 12 months.
“There was a bit of an issue with a tackle but I forget about it straight afterwards.
“If anybody wants to bring it up again they can but it certainly won't have any effect on me.”
