Brighton & Hove Albion women welcome Charlton Athletic to Withdean this Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

John Donoghue side’s go into the game after back-to-back victories at West Ham and Chesham respectively, and the Albion head coach is encouraging his side to display the same level of work rate and commitment at the weekend.

He told seagulls.co.uk, “The performances in the last couple of games have been very good. We created so many chances and scored some good goals, which is very pleasing.“The players need to continue playing with the same high level of concentration and work rate to continue our upturn in form."
The Addicks played in the Women’s Premier League National Division last season - a tier above Albion before the Women’s Super League (WSL) restructure - and Donoghue is anticipating a tough test.
He added, “Charlton are a team we haven’t played before; we’ve seen a few clips of their previous games but none are really of any great length.
“If you look at the teams from the National Division playing in the league this year, you will see that none of them were relegated but are in this division by default due to the WSL restructure.
“They finished last season strongly and they have a lot of players who are used to playing at a higher level of intensity, so it’s a game I’m looking forward to.”
Albion still have a number of players ruled out for Sunday, with Rebecca Merritt (concussion) and Charlotte Owen (knee) suffering long-term injuries while Charlotte Young is unavailable for selection.
Reserve team players Paige Adams and Paige Baker-Carroll may get further chances to impress in the first-team squad after both featured in the 2-1 win at Chesham last week.
There is free entry to all Albion women home games for season-ticket holders and children under-16. Admission for non season-ticket holders is £2.
