ALBION 0COVENTRY 1
Neville 64
Albion women were beaten by title-chasing Coventry City at Withdean.

Ashleigh Neville’s strike just past the hour mark was enough to send the Sky Blues home with all three points, despite a spirited performance by John Donoghue’s side.
Albion started the match brightly as Rosie Kmita sent her angled drive just wide of the target, before Rebecca Merritt’s looping effort went narrowly over the bar.
The Seagulls continued to press City all over the pitch and some great persistence by Lucy Somes set up a chance for Kirsty Barton, but Neville cleared her effort off the line.
Merrit tested Sue Wood once again with another angled drive from distance, as Albion searched for the elusive first goal in a goalless first-half.

Lucy Somes created an early chance for Rosie Kmita within moments of the restart, but the former Spurs forward fired her effort over the bar.The next 20 minutes were rather cagey and produced few goalscoring chances; with Albion’s only opportunity falling to Tammy Waine, whose speculative effort was cleared behind from Barton’s corner.
Albion keeper Toni-Anne Wayne then had to be alert, as she saved well from Rebecca Anderson’s shot.
But it was City that managed to break the deadlock against the run of play; Marie Gautlett’s ball split the defence and found Neville, who rounded Wayne and slotted home.
Anderson could have doubled the visitors’ advantage just minutes later, but fired straight at Wayne from inside the box.
The Seagulls pressed forward in search of an equaliser against a stubborn Sky Blues defence; Paula Howells showed some neat footwork to find Waine, only for the Albion skipper to fire her effort over the bar.
Rebecca Thompson-Agbro also had a chance to level the scores after meeting Barton’s corner, only for her effort to be cleared behind.
Waine then had another opportunity after working herself into space, but Wood comfortably saved her shot and the Sky Blues held on for three points.
