Regina Spektor - Far
Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope
Sheryl Crow - The Globe Sessions

Not sure if we've had this before?

Anyway my nomination is an album full of soul recorded in Memphis

Dusty in Memphis

An album that showcases some brilliant songs by one of the great female voices of all time, Dusty Springfield.

They don't make 'em like her any more

Great call. Can't name a favourite but a few that I adore are:

Carole King - Tapestry
Michelle Shocked - Short, Sharp, Shocked
Beth Orton - Trailer Park

And anything by Hafdis Huld, Emiliana Torrini or Bjork. The Icelandics do it for me every time.

Boring By Sea
Past Life Martyred Saints by Ema is a brilliant album. Her second is out this year.

I could have gone for Carol King, every song a classic, but I've heard it so many times I can't bring myself to play it anymore.

I'll be giving a few albums mentioned on this thread, that I'm not familiar with, a listen

North star grassman and the ravens - Sandy Denny.

Well, I am beyond Gobsmacked at how refined and tasteful some of my fellow gulls are... Sandy who tragically died before the technological era arrived, leaving us so little video to savour. I saw her with Fairport Convention at The Dome in the 70s. She had a sore throat as I remember, though you'd never have guessed.
