For me he has been totally unprofessional in recent weeks. We have been paying his wages and he says his head isn't right to play. Yet he is straight in the starting line up after all the rushing around of the last few days, amazing!!!. Has been a great player for us the last few seasons and good luck to the fella. But this whole episode has left a nasty taste in the mouth, as most things do where a certain person is involved.

Completely agree

What a daft tackle by Anita, the carthorse. Great penalty though.

Surprised Borini didn't get pelted with all sorts for celebrating like that.

Oooh, 2-0. Pardew will be unpopular if it stays like this :lolol:

Gus always did have a good record against Newcastle.

It's not a case of keeping Gus, he used us and will use Sunderland as a stepping stone. He's clearly a class manager and will manage at the highest level.

Good game this. Credit where credit is due, Gus has worked wonders up there.

No different to here really. Slow start, took time to get the message across (to players and supporters) then gradually turns everything round to his way of thinking.

Whatever we think of Bridcutt and Poyet on a personal level- we still have a selfish, pragmatic reason for wanting them to do well. Imagine that Liam makes the step up effortlessly. Doesn't that mean (a) our squad take confidence that the gulf isn't great - they start to really believe they can be premier players too (b) the football world starts to think that Brighton is a club that develops really good players. So more players want to come here and, if we have to sell, the price is higher.

It shouldn't really come as a surprise. I think some people have slightly hazy memories of how good he is, it's understandable mind being that he wasn't in the least bit interested this season.

Poyet has had a good start, no doubt about it. I think we will see what state they are in in two years time before passing judgement. One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Bridcutt playing very well so far.

Sunderland are a complete different team now, got to be fair to Gus it's a dramatic turn around.

(c) potentially more money if there was any survival-dependant add ons to the fee, or appearance related fees

Bridcutt has slotted straight into the team, and his position, as if he's been there all season. Looks a tad rusty when someone runs at him but other than that he looks comfortable
