For the girls it would be great to do well in the Cup, but as a coach you’re always just thinking about the next game. "
John Donoghue
Albion women will begin their FA Cup campaign this Sunday when they host Tottenham at Withdean, kick-off 1pm.Head coach John Donoghue anticipates a tough test, but insists his main priority is to get a run of games together after not playing a match since 15th December.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “I’m looking forward to getting a game, as we haven’t played for four weeks now.
“In terms of our preparations, we’ve played Tottenham before so we know what they’re about. They played really well against us last time so I think they’re coming into the game in a confident mood.
“We should also be confident because once we stepped up in the second-half and attacked, we put them under lots of pressure and created many opportunities. But due to the number of recent postponements, it feels like we’re starting the season again.
“For the girls it would be great to do well in the Cup, but as a coach you’re always just thinking about the next game. The more games we play the better.”
Donoghue is expected to include Mollie and Rosie Kmita in the squad, with both in line to feature against their former club.*
There is free entry for season-ticket holders and under-16s, while admission for non-season ticket holders is £2.
Next three fixtures:
12th January Tottenham Hotspur (H)FA Cup
19th January Tottenham Hotspur (H)League
26th January Lewes (H)League
