Leroy Lita celebrates his goal at Doncaster
Leroy Lita may have to wait a little longer for his first Albion start.
Assistant head coach Nathan Jones has hinted Lita will be on the bench again to begin with against Blackburn at The Amex today.
The on-loan Swansea striker scored as a late substitute in last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Doncaster. He is eager to make his full debut but Jones has questioned whether Lita is ready to play 90 minutes.
Oscar Garcia’s No. 2 told The Argus: “He probably thinks he is but we brought Leroy in here to do exactly what he did on Saturday and that’s score goals. For us to throw him in for a full performance we’re not quite sure yet.
“Leroy is a confident individual. That’s what has got him goals throughout his career and he hasn’t got them sitting on the bench, so if he keeps training and playing the way he is it will be difficult to keep him out but he has to keep doing that.
“If we throw him into 90 minutes the last thing we want to do is add him to the pile of injuries we’ve got.”
Winger Will Buckley has been added to Albion’s long injury list for Rovers’ visit after a recurrence of hamstring trouble at Doncaster.
Jones said: “It just adds another problem and gives you less options. He’s one that is key to our philosophy in terms of giving us that outlet. We lose him and we lose certain things from the side.”
