Kazenga LuaLua will have surgery on his injured knee today
Albion boss Oscar Garcia has called on the club and supporters to stick together after adding Kazenga LuaLua to his horror list of long-term casualties.
LuaLua has surgery today on the knee tendon injury which has bothered him since pre-season.
The explosive winger missed Saturday’s goalless draw at Yeovil after aggravating the injury in the last home game against Nottingham Forest and has been ruled out for up to eight weeks.
Strikers Leo Ulloa (foot) and Craig Mackail-Smith (ankle) are not expected back until December either and Will Hoskins (knee) until spring at the earliest.
One chink of light for head coach Oscar as the Spaniard tries to cope with an unprecedented injury crisis involving several of his most influential players is earlier comebacks earmarked for midfield trio Liam Bridcutt, Andrea Orlandi and Kemy Agustien. The Seagulls are hopeful they will all be back by early November.
Oscar said: “It has been very frustrating for all of us, but we have to stick together as a club, with the fans, and keep going. We still have enough quality in the squad, and we know that once we do overcome this period and get everyone fit our squad can rival any other in the Championship.”
A run of one win in eight matches has dropped Albion to 15th ahead of Watford’s Sky televised visit to The Amex next Monday night (7.45pm).
