This is a great example of how the club and fans can work together to everyone's benefit"
Paul Barber
After a successful implementation and due to the increasing popularity of the Albion's new buy-online, print-at-home ticketing system, from today the club will no longer be charging fans a booking fee on online, print-at-home home match ticket transactions made through the official ticket website.
*
Head of supporter services Jenny Gower commented, "The new system has already proved really popular with fans, and it saves the ticket office a lot of administration work and postage costs, so to encourage fans to use this option we will no longer be charging a booking fee to fans who choose to print at home."
*
The new system is available for match tickets for all home games and works in a similar way to the airlines online check-in systems, with tickets emailed to the user as a PDF once the transaction is complete. It also means the fans using the service haven't got to rely on postal service or queue up to collect on matchday.
*
Gower added, "Even since I joined the club earlier this year, many fans have asked for this service and we were able to introduce it at the start of the season. We wanted to see what the uptake was like, to ensure it was financially viable, but as it's proved so popular we've been able to make this step."
*
Chief executive Paul Barber added, "This is a great example of how the club and fans can work together to everyone's benefit. The fans get a safe, system which is quicker, easier and much simpler, and the club enjoys a significant economic benefit.
*
"Something as small as printing off a ticket at home can give us a collective saving of thousands of pounds every match, so to encourage fans to do this we wanted to pass this saving back to the supporters.
*
"We've heard fans' concerns on the changes to the travel plan, and regarding prices in tough economic times - and we accept that - but the support of the fans has once again been phenomenal.
*
"I'd like to thank the fans; their support is not something we take for granted and we will continue to do our bit to continue driving the club forward on and off the pitch."
*
Match tickets purchased over the phone or in person will still be subject to a £1.50 booking fee per ticket; while tickets bought online for collection or postage, will be subject to a £1 booking fee per ticket.
