We had some really good possession football but we were just not attacking enough in the final third"
Simon Rusk
Goals either side of half time destined Albion’s under-18s to defeat in their opening league fixture of the season. The hosts took the lead after just 25 minutes before extending their advantage straight after the restart.
The Seagulls impressed with their ball retention but were unable to cause the Dragons enough defensive problems.
Despite their superiority in possession, Cardiff’s game plan proved successful and it was the Premier League club who secured victory.
However youth coach Simon Rusk wasn’t disheartened by his team’s display telling seagulls.co.uk, “We had some really good possession football but we were just not attacking enough in the final third.
“They are a strong, quick and physical side, who counter attacked on us really well, which we struggled with. But there was still a lot to be positive about.”*
Albion: Colquhoun; Collar, Horncastle, Lall, Maguire-Drew; Benham (Pring 45), Wiltshire, Harris; Deen (Barclay 59), Rowe-Hurst, Muitt (Davis 71).
Subs not used: Courtney.
