We have to make it a place where players know they have been in a game, and know they have gone beyond their capabilities. "
Nathan Jones
Assistant head coach Nathan Jones has urged Albion to make the Amex a fortress. The Seagulls' record at the stadium has been impressive since moving in two years ago, but the Welshman wants to make it an uncomfortable visit for opposing teams.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “We want to make sure that teams don’t enjoy coming to the Amex. Yes, teams and players enjoy coming here and after watching games on TV they think it is a nice place to play, but we have to make it a place where players know they have been in a game, and know they have gone beyond their capabilities to get anything out of the game.
"That is the kind of mentality we need to integrate here at the Albion but we have to play and impose our philosophy on games and win them by being clinical in the things we do at both ends of the pitch.
“Games have come thick and fast; we are really bouncing from game to game and not being able to work with the players as much as we would like, but the players are all looking forward to the game against Derby.
“As a footballer you want to play games as that is the best thing about it and playing at home in the first league game, with a big crowd, everyone is excited.”
Jones is also expecting a tough encounter against a side who drew their opening Championship game at home to Blackburn last Sunday.*

“We will have to be right at it otherwise we won’t get the rewards. They have some good individuals, the young lad (Will) Hughes has just been selected for the England Under-21s so they have a good strong squad.
“I know a few of their players from playing against them but also from my time at Charlton and Yeovil, so they are a good side.
“I know Nigel (Clough) will have them organised and they will play in a certain way and that they will be a really good test.
“Brighton won the game last year but it was a hard fought match and they would have needed to be very professional to win, so we will need to do the same tomorrow.”
