Albion lifted the Sussex Senior Cup after a Toby Agdestein hat-trick secured a 4-0 win over Bognor Regis Town.
The Norwegian forward opened the scoring after 13 minutes, before Bognor’s Ollie Pearce spurned a chance from the penalty spot just before the half-hour mark.
Immediately after the break Agdestein grabbed his and the Seagulls’ second, before George Barker added a third.*
But it was Agdestein who stole the headlines, grabbing the match ball and the second hat-trick at the Amex, when he coolly slotted home on 76 minutes.*
It means Albion win back the title they lost their grip on last season, and have now lifted the trophy five out of the last seven years.*
It was Luke Williams’ side who controlled the game from the start, and some individual brilliance from Agdestein opened the scoring. He cut in from the left wing before directing a low strike into the bottom corner of Craig Stoner’s goal.
An ideal start for Albion but not for Town, who struggled to find a foothold in the game as the Seagulls dominated possession, and Charlie Oatway Junior came close to a second goal with a curling 25 yard free-kick that dropped over the bar.
The visitors were handed a guilt-edged opportunity to draw level when Dan Kempson was tripped inside the box by Courtney Richards, and referee Graham Kane awarded a spot-kick.
The responsibility fell on Pearce but he dragged his effort wide, much to the disappointment of the vociferous Bognor fans.
Pearce nearly atoned for his miss on 35 minutes but his looping header was brilliantly tipped over by Grant Smith, before Oatway brought a similarly good save out of Stoner at the other end.
Dan Thompson flashed an effort wide before the break but the half finished with the Seagulls ahead.
A triple sub at the break saw Williams add more fire power to his side as Barker, Brennan Dickenson and Anton Rodgers replaced Oatway, Shamir Goodwin and Rohan Ince.
And within a minute of the restart Albion had doubled their tally as Agdestein broke through and expertly directed his strike into the bottom corner again.
The striker was in fine form and turned provider as he pulled the ball back across goal at pace and Barker tapped into the empty net.*
Albion were sitting pretty at 3-0 with over half an hour to play but Bognor continued to look for a way back into the game. Thompson came close to doing just that but his near-post header landed safely over.
Half-time substitute Rodgers brought another good stop out of Stoner with a 30-yard free-kick, before the midfielder cracked the side netting with a drilled low effort.
Albion added further gloss to the scoreline on 76 minutes as Dickenson’s rapid pace left Jon Marzetti standing, and the forward teed up Agdestein to complete his hat-trick.
