Andrew Crofts insists he has no idea whether he deserved to be sent off against his old club.
But he was happy with “a great point” as the Seagulls moved into fourth place last night.
The Albion midfielder was at the centre of a storm when he challenged goalbound Peterborough striker Lee Tomlin.
Referee Robert Madley waved play on with home fans howling for a red card.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: “Crofty used to be here and I know him.
“He’s a great lad and he said ‘I had to take him out, I had no choice’. He said that to one of our players. It’s a clear red card. He is nowhere near the ball.”
Crofts, a former Peterborough loanee, insisted he did not admit guilt. He added: “I still haven’t seen it back. I made every attempt to get the ball.
“Whether or not I did or I didn’t I’d have to look back. But my first intention was to try to get the ball and stop the fella from scoring.
“I had to make a decision. I did it for the team rather than myself.”
