Gus Poyet admitted Albion were not at their best against Leicester today.
But he played down the loss of two home points from a tense 1-1 draw.
The Seagulls needed a late Kazenga LuaLua strike to ensure they stayed above the Foxes in the battle for a top-six finish.
It was Albion’s third draw in a row but the least frustrating of the three.
Poyet said: “The problem was not today. The problem was Tuesday (against Charlton), Saturday (against Forest), not today. "
“It was a test which shows, if you play against that kind of power and are not at your best, which we weren't, it's difficult."
Poyet felt his side were always in with a chance of getting some reward – and might have gone ahead just before Leicester scored.
Leo Ulloa shot wide from close range and Matty James netted for Leicester from their next attack.
Poyet added: “We were always in the game. It was very tight. It was a one-goal game, maximum two. We had the chance before them. Tough."
Will Buckley will be assessed on Monday after going off early in the game with a hamstring injury.
