Ashley Barnes is facing the possibility of an extended ban for his red card at Bolton.
The FA have charged Albion’s striker with violent conduct worthy of a longer ban than the usual three matches.
Barnes was shown a straight red card for trying to trip referee Nigel Miller just seconds from full-time.
He received an automatic three-match ban, plus an extra game as it was his second dismissal of the season.
The FA believe his “violent conduct towards the end of the game constituted an offence whereby the standard punishment that would otherwise apply was clearly insufficient.”
Barnes has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the charge.
He began his suspension by missing last night’s 1-0 defeat to Barnsley.
