Dean Hammond is grounded and his team mates disconsolate after Bolton's late leveller at The Amex
Dean Hammond wants revenge at Bolton for Albion’s cruellest draw of the season.
Boss Gus Poyet regards the 1-1 stalemate at The Amex in November as the Seagulls’ stand-out performance of the campaign.
They dominated but were robbed of all three points by David Ngog’s 96th-minute equaliser.
Hammond admits the memory of that disappointment has been hard to erase ahead of the return clash with Wanderers at The Reebok today.
The midfielder told The Argus: “It still hurts a little bit, because we played so well that day and we should have been out of sight. Unfortunately they got a goal at the end.
“But we played well against a top team that were in the Premiership last year and we go there full of confidence.
“They have picked up. They have still kept most of the players that were playing for them in the Premier League, so it will be a good test for us, but we look forward to it.
“I’ve said all season we don’t fear anyone in this league. If we are at our best, take care of our jobs and play the way we want to play, we’ve got every chance.”
Avoiding defeat against fellow play-off contenders Bolton will guarantee Albion staying in the top six going into Tuesday’s game in hand at third-bottom Barnsley. Victory could move them into the top five for the first time since early October if Leicester slip up at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Adam El-Abd has been named in the Egypt squad for a home friendly against Swaziland on March 22 and the World Cup qualifying visit of Zimbabwe four days later.
His Albion team-mates Liam Bridcutt (Scotland) and Tomasz Kuszczak (Poland) had already earned call-ups for forthcoming fixtures.
