Trains to the Blackburn game - help re a query, please

I'm normally take park n ride buses.

For the Blackburn game, for the first time, I'll be taking the train from Aldrington to Falmer.

Is it just a case of having my s/t smart card with me, and hoping on a train?

i.e. there is nothing to pay, and train staff accept it as legitimate travel?

Trains arriving at Aldrington are 3 cars and on evening match days can be rammed by the time they arrive there

Hove is better as you have the Hove shuttles but if I remember there is a train that arrives in Brighton from the west coast around 6/630 that goes to Falmer so you don't have to change. Just show your season ticket if asked as that is your train ticket too
