Andrea Orlandi says the Cup clash with Arsenal is great for the club
ANDREA Orlandi insists Albion’s FA Cup clash against Arsenal will not detract from the main goal of promotion to the Premier League.
The Seagulls head into tomorrow’s fourth round tie at The Amex four points outside the Championship play-offs after producing one of their worst performances of the season at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.
They needed a penalty deep into injury time from David to rescue a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park, prompting fears that the Arsenal tie was an unwelcome diversion.
But Orlandi said: “The cup is a nice distraction. We’ve been able to play against Newcastle and now Arsenal so it’s a great motivation.
“Obviously our main target is the league but a game against Arsenal is great for the club and for the fans and if you can win a game like the one on Saturday it is going to give us a confidence boost.”
Orlandi, on target in the 2-0 win against Newcastle, has another chance to showcase his talents after making just three appearances in the Premier League for previous club swansea.
The Spanish midfielder, 28, said: “I only smelled the Premier League a little bit but I want to be part of it 100 per cent and that’s the plan here at Brighton. That’s what we are fighting for and working for.”
