Bizarre game. Gus' second home Tuesday night experiment with a ridiculous (partly enforced) line up backfired massively. We we horrid for about 60 minutes.

Credit though for acknowledging his mistake and changing it. The subs changed the game.

El-Abd-5-Beaten in the air frequently tonight
Dunk-3-Woeful tonight looked nervous on the ball
Greer-3-As above, gave the ball away in dangerous areas several times, we really need to be looking for a new CB in January
Bridge-7-Class as ever
Bridcutt-7-Decent but once again his height limited him vs Trotter
Hammond-8-Saved our central defence on numerous occasions and great in the air, well played
Crofts-6-Pretty anonymous
Lopez-7.5-Filled in superbly at right back and good distribution, great penalty too
Buckley-5-Completely anonymous
CMS-5-Poor

Interesting to read the ratings on here and compare these to the impression given by the commentary on 5 live. Ok it was a former P****e player but he did seem to speak a fair amount of sense about our tactics tonight in that we look dangerous if we move the ball at pace but the minute we slow the game down opposing teams have learnt to close us down and we become very predictable. He did say positive things about Bridders, KLL and Buckley but its interesting that NSC ratings for Buckley are low. Maybe KLL will start instead of Buckley at Blackburn?

Sounds to me like we badly miss the invention of Orlandi or Vicente.

Kuszczak - 7 Saved a couple of good shots and was strong in the box.
Greer - 7 Seemed solid to me
El Abd - 7 Did alright out of position and kept strong. Took one for the team to get his yellow.
Dunk - 6 Very strong in the air but not on for very long.
Bridge - 7
Lopez - 7 I thought he played very well. And a great penalty.
Crofts - I can't rate as I didn't really notice him.
Hammond - 6 Some nice attacking play.
Bridcutt - 6 Didn't seem his usual self. His passing was a bit off.
Buckley - 7 He was quick on to the ball but we've seen much better out of him.
CMS - 6 Got into some nice positions but once again, failed to get the ball in the net.

SUBS
Lua Lua - 9.9 I don't like to give 10s. He completely changed the game and he was on top form.
Barnes - 7 He was determined to prove his worth. Got into some lovely positions and made some nice creative passes. He looked dangerous for the little time he was on.
Hoskins Not on long enough to rate. But he seemed decent.
