Reading some posts and tweets lately you would think we were Chelsea. Poking fun at other club's attendances, getting involved in petty spats with Palace fans who are rightly chuffed their team are doing well and moaning about the fact we are only sat in what would be our best league position in decades.

So some other clubs are struggling attendance wise. Not everyone can afford £30 to watch football. Not everyone has that luxury. Being in a position to be able to pay to regularly watch football does not make you a great fan. Particularly not when 15,000 Albion fans who can afford seats now were conspicuous by their absence at Withdean.

So Palace are doing well and a few of their supporters are creeping out of the woodwork. A bit like those extra 15,000 Brighton fans then.

And yes, our run has been about crap of late. And no, beating Peterborough at home 1-0 does not make everything alright. But people genuinely calling for a managerial change? Honestly.

I'm certainly not someone who agrees we should never question Poyet et al because "we used to be crap and play at Withdean so should be happy".

For me, I sat through all that rain soaked crap so one day we COULD expect better.

I just wish people weren't such Charlie Big Potatoes all of a sudden.

Agreed. Although there's nothing wrong with mocking Palace for getting 10,000 a game less than us, we don't have a lot else to mock them for at the moment. The people calling for a managerial change are generally the ones who cant string a sentence together, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Of course. Any excuse is a good one!

Fair post. I don't want to suddenly be seen as the arrogant big heads who forgot where we came from.

Also, we do need some perspective. We are an aspirational mid-table championship side with a great potential fan base that we are bedding in. And I'm fed up with all this slagging off when it comes to so called JCLs. Come one and all I say and be part of the family.

What I would like is to see the values of the club enshrined somewhere. For me the Albion is about respect; it's about caring; it's about the wider community; and it's about hard fought success. I'd like players, managers and fans to be inducted into that somehow - so they know that they are not just joining another club, but they are joining a club that stands for something.

And Palace should always be mocked.

Most of the crap posted here comes from people that were at the Withdean too.

And I know it's all wrapped up in the mission statement, but that's just not clear enough for me and it's about the 'club' and not about the people that make up the club...

1.0 Mission Statement
Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club (“The Club”) aims to be a source of civic pride in the City of
Brighton and Hove (“The City”). It will enhance the image and increase national awareness of the
“City by the Sea” by:

Playing professional football at the highest possible level

Managing the Club professionally so as to ensure a sustainable future for top class sport within the
City.

Representing and caring for the interests of its supporters and the vibrant and diverse community of
Brighton and Hove encouraging involvement through liaison and consultation groups.

Participating in the Football League campaign “Enjoy the Match” by eradicating anti-social
behaviour specifically in the family area of the ground, making the experience more appealing to all
supporters and especially families.

Developing the potential of young people seeking to achieve sporting excellence

Expanding the important work of our Albion in the Community programme, creating opportunities
for young people who are disadvantaged or who have special needs to learn and to take part in sport

Providing a facility which will attract visitors to the City and create education, training and
employment opportunities

Developing opportunities that recognise and reflect the needs of different community groups in the
City, providing additional places to play and opportunities to improve standards from grass roots to
specialised coaching

Promoting an understanding of the value to the wider community of sport with accessible and
affordable community spectator facilities creating top level spectator and participator experience

Enhancing and promoting the place of football in our City’s heritage and culture, and in the pursuit
of sporting and civic values through partnerships across the commercial, public and education
sectors

I like that word "class" because I tell you what macks me right off. The word "perspective" or the words "look where we were x years ago"

No because the past is in the past. Whilst it shouldnt be forgotten it MACKS me off. Look FORWARDS. We even changed the seagull on our badge to reflect this.

You need to keep it in context. We don't have an away end, so we get Palace fans joining this month and posting about how brilliant they are and how they've been above us for 30 years etc etc, so it's no surprise that some of the Brighton fans want to have a go back.

Agree with that point on 'class' - it's a great choice of word.
