I was looking into getting my smart card replaced (which is a little worn..) but was shocked to read the increase in replacement costs

This appears to contradict the charges laid out in the club charter.

Has the club charter changed ? If so it does beg the question - why bother to have one in the first place ?

The replacement card scheme was being abused by a small minority of supporters who were using it to pass on their season tickets at a price and then simply request a replacement card and cancel the old one. PM me your details and if you take your old card in, because it is worn, I am sure the ticket office will waive the fee.
