I just found this TV programme on disaffected youth, called 'Living For Kicks'.

First 15 mins are based on Brighton teen culture, post-Elvis, pre-Beatles. I don't know much about it. Anyone recognise the location - is it Queen's Square?

The owner of the Blue Gardenia, Harvey Holford, was found guilty of the manslaughter of his wife in the early 60's.

Yes the case centered around a slightly built super wealthy Brighton entrepeneur by the name of John Bloom.
