Good shout but entries closed. I've joined the waiting list. Will take a spare for the Stinger Half, if one going.

Putting your mojo to one side for a while won't do any harm.

Oh! I had a quick look yesterday and got to the entry form, so I assumed they were still open. Maybe I'll just aim for a half and save £30! There's always a next year – unless it's like the recently mentioned Bright10... I bloody loved that race too. Probably my favourite running distance.

Well done to everyone at the Brighton Half! Fantastic efforts all round in really tough conditions. Plus kudos to all of the volunteers!

I have the London Big Half on Sunday which should be fun. The men's elite field is stacked. It will be amazing to see one of the greatest distance runners of all time Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele up against Kenya's Lawrence Cherono, the current Chicago and Boston Marathon champion. I'd be ecstatic if I can dip inside 20 mins behind them and I'm hoping to get close to my PB of 1:17 which I ran there last year.

Mo dropped out of the race a few weeks ago through achilles injury. It will be interesting to see what new information Panorama have dug up on Mo and Salazar in tonight's programme! Tick tock, tick tock... :ohmy:

I actually managed a PB in yesterdays conditions, not really sure how, as I was struggling running into the wind. But my legs felt alright after 10 miles and I thought I would just go for it it for the final 3 miles with the wind behind me. Was averaging around 8/8.15 mins per mile, then the final 3 at 7/7.15 per mile. Finished with a PB of 1:45:52. Have the London half on Sunday and hopeful conditions will be better.

I'm experiencing some soreness in my left calf this morning, I'm tempted to have an easy recovery day and bin off the 7 miles I have planned. The temptation to run is strong though, it doesn't feel like a problem or something to be concerned by. I think I can comfortably run through but given the weather, I could take the day. I jumped up to 53 miles last week and I'm looking to maintain that distance this week with 55.

As a sidenote, I was only 4th in the NSC Runners group for distance last week - some very impressive milage being clocked at the moment!

Nice Nathan! Conditions for Sunday in London at the moment look ideal. Quite cold but sunny, dry and crucially just a moderate breeze.

I do hope you take a rest. So much to lose (injury) with little (if any) gain. Store that adrenaline (or is it testosterone?😀) for when it really matters

Meanwhile I'll spend tomorrow in the pool working on a slightly deeper stroke to try and catch up with speedy fish [MENTION=67]Curious Orange[/MENTION] in a few months time.

Swimming is the relaxing part of training, and I don't feel particularly speedy when I'm forever having to make way for one chap who swims at the same time as me who is clearly at least ten years older than I am! :thumbsup:

Are you a one pair of trainers man? The new shoes may be setting off the calf niggle. I always rotate shoes after a niggle.

There is definitely a lot of truth to that! I have a pace session scheduled for tomorrow and I think that's far more important than recovery miles.

Nah, I always have a few pairs on the move. My new and sparkly yellow shoes were worn for the three runs last week, but parkrun on saturday and then the run yesterday were both in different pairs. I think I've just done a lot of hill running over the last week and my calf is a little bit sore. I'll do plenty of stretching whatever else happens today and if I do go for a run, I'll make sure it's not too hilly (for a change!).

Bit late with this HM post but thought I'd join the party :thumbsup:

Pretty lousy day for a run, character building I think they call it. Not ideal prep for me either with going to Sheffield on Saturday, enjoying 6 pints, having no evening meal and getting to bed at 12.45.

Anyway, I set off with 1.45 as the target, managed to keep a relatively even pace of just about sub 8's and then planned to hit the final three back from the lagoon with the wind assistance and whatever was left in the tank. The final three splits were 7.12, 6.53 & 7.01. There must have been some super big gusts during mile 12! Came home in 1.41.55 just two and half minutes off my best which I set last year. More than happy with that given prep and conditions.

The real hero's as others have mentioned were the volunteers and supporters, not sure I'd have wanted to be stand around in weather like that :bowdown:

Cheers sir. This table is a fine thing.
My chip time was in fact 1.54.30 in the Brighton Half.
Do Park Runs count for 5K? My PB in that this year is now 24.45 on Sat Feb 16th which i did last week at Hove Park.
My 10K PB is also 54.47 which i did at the 12th Hove Park Run race/ 10K on Oct 20th.

There's a Panorama on tonight about Mo Farrah. (On legal advice I need to add that any implication of a relationship between the NSC Runners table and allegations of the injection of high level performance enhancing drugs is ENTIRELY speculative. However, I'm not sure that [MENTION=15302]@artiefulkin will sleep particularly well this evening!)

Admittedly I wasn't out in it yesterday, but nothing for me will beat the quintuplet of weather in the form of the hail, wind, snow, rain and ice that [MENTION=15605]knocky1[/MENTION] and I had to endure during Moyleman 2018. In terms of running endeavour and proper mind over matter stuff, that was the best/worst.

The annual NSC beer and peanut fest that is the Phoenix 10K has just opened up entries for 2020.

It's on 15th July at 7.30pm. This is four days after the Serpent Trail 50k so I am most definitely OUT but, if there is a big NSC turnout expected, I will watch / volunteer / drink afterwards.

I'm in for that one for sure. First of presumably 3 showdowns with the Big Fella (Worthing and Arena 80 being the other two) over the dreaded 10k distance this year.
