Who else did the Parkrun double header this morning and how did you find it?

Conditions weren’t ideal, particularly at the Prom. It was very windy and wet. Throw in a slight quad strain that is preventing me from sprinting at the moment and it is perhaps no surprise that my times were a little underwhelming. I ended up with 21:06 at the Prom and 21:21 at Hove Park. Disappointing not to at least go sub-21 at either but I guess a double header is never going to be the day for a quick one. I fancy going back to one of these courses on Saturday for a better attempt.
Nope. I was contemplating the prom but went out for a run earlier. I see it was chucking it down by 8.45...

Well done - I felt decidedly ropey for Hove Prom not helped by cold, wet and windy conditions and ran 23:20. A couple of last night’s left over sausage rolls as an inter-run snack seemed to help and improved to 22:45 at Hove Park. Quick hello to @ninja and well done to @mr Blobby on a double debut. Got to the Amex just in time to see the first goal go in.

Now run six different parkruns in succession- Bevendean, Peacehaven, Leeds Roundhay, Tilgate, Prom, Hove Park. Thinking of Bedgebury on Saturday to maintain the variety.

You're in a better place than I was this time last year, I could only manage 22 and change, and 21 and change. You ran consistent times at each of them and in very different conditions. You're going into the year with form behind you, you'll be a menace on the leaderboard come summertime!

Congrats on the multiple parkruns - absolutely keep the variety going if you can.

The early 2018 table, a few will be happy with this and I'm one of them!

Did the (snigger) Brown Willy run in Cornwall this morning. Ludicrous race of about 7.25 miles, starts in a pub, goes up to the top of the highest point in Cornwall and back, mostly across peat bog. Played ‘puddle roulette’ all the way....some an inch deep, the worst I encountered went up to my shorts. Slowest 7m I’ve ever done, socks ruined, no official results and no medal. About 400 runners. Brilliant hangover cure !!

I have taken out the AG percentages for last years Parkrun SBs. Please note your Parkrun 2018 SB AGs as I aim to be in the top 3 AG this year.

Man flu so time on my hands. Last years 5K table based on Age Grade over 70% for season Best. Puts the Super Egos where they belong.
I'll edit in the sbs.

The SBs were based on records, no? Surely it will only change if people shatter PBs?

Most people are shattering pbs and the sb is a pb.. In above table myself and Dazzer didn't. Mine is a 2017 sb AG and I think Dazzers is as well.

Most people without an AG I traced their parkrun and put in the 2017 sb AG in the table.

Age Grading is a way of telling a runner how they are performing at the present time. So for 2018 it has to be the seasons best AG.

It's open to discussion but I would not feel happy being second in the table with AGs from 1996 or 2009. It's a current age grade rather than an historically achieved AG.

Confusing to explain but hope I have.

Bloody Worthing!
No reason why people have to stick to 5K for the AG. If you can beat the 5K AG over 10K go for it.

Sorry to hear about the man flu. I must say I greatly appreciated your re-configuring of the 2017 table with AGs at the top. I'd love to be able to defend the 'title' in 2018 but I've been load low by a calf injury so it's a bit of a rest for me for a while. (Note to younger runners: you might not get more injuries as you get older but they seem to take longer to get fixed.)

He should now as 75% has been my annual peak fitness norm since 1972.

I'm still waiting for a NSC 80% AG to step forward. I think it may be the kiwi superman.

have you been over 50 since 1972?

Neither would I if I was out of the NSC top 6 relative to age table. :lolol:

You will when you’re 50+ [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I feel like I've lost this one. :lolol:

I gave my legs a bit of a test after posting earlier, I ran up Snakey Hill, Tongdean Lane, Surrenden Crescent, Millers Road and Woodland Drive from Hove Park to Nevill Road. I ran a total of 10 miles in 96:36 - no real pace but I concentrated on form and consistency. I'll do some pace work tomorrow lunch time and have a stab at a quick parkrun on saturday, I'm going to run between 40-50 miles this week and look to make that my steady base going forward.

Marathon season has begun!

That’s a punishing route, I may use that one myself next week.

It was a decent run but I ran it a bit short so had to double back on myself a little bit. Otherwise, I like the map image!
